To the Triathlon Club of San Diego Membership,
We are all amid a trying time with the Coronavirus causing school closures, people staying home from work, and sporting events being cancelled. The Board of Directors of the Tri Club of San Diego have been talking about how we are to care for our friends and members considering these circumstances.
Today, San Diego Mayor Faulconer and other civic leaders made statements about the threat of the Coronavirus and how they are dealing with this situation. They are suggesting that any unnecessary gathering of people in large numbers be eliminated for the time being. For small group gatherings, the recommendation is to keep a distance of six feet between individuals.
Per the Mayor’s direction, as well as the direction of the California Department of Public Health, the TCSD Board of Directors has voted to cancel all races and large group meetings until April 15, or until further direction from the government is granted for these activities to resume. This includes the Fiesta Island Tri on March 21st.
For training and workouts, if you feel you must continue, please follow the advisement of a distance of six feet between individuals.
It is difficult to do this as we love putting on the events as well as participating in them. This decision is for the protection and care of our Tri community, as well as the community that surrounds us all.
