The September Club Race takes us back to our wonderful summer locale: Glorietta Bay in Coronado. The course consists of an 800 meter swim in calm Glorietta Bay, a 11.5 mile bike ride down the Silver Strand, and a 3 mile run to wrap things up. The course will not be closed to traffic so you must abide by all traffic laws and signs!
*****************NEW RULE****************
Due to the open bicycle course at Coronado, we are adding a couple of mandatory stops on the bike course where you must come to a complete stop, clip out, put one foot down, check for traffic, then continue on with your ride. Everyone must do this so there will be very little impact on your time. The stops will be at blind intersections where cars are often coming and going. Of course, racers need to respect the traffic laws at the other un-manned stop signs and signals as well.
Head Race Sponsor San Diego Running Institute will be on scene dispensing knowledge on running products and techniques. Stop by and have a chat. They will be at the race with prizes for some participants, and some small items for sale. Check them out at www.sdri.net
Transition: Transition is in the grass at Glorietta Bay. Watch for a bunch of triathletes doing triathlete things at 6am, or check the maps below.
Swim: The swim is a calm bay swim, approximately 800 meters long. Buoys will be set and the course will be supported by paddleboarders for safety.
Bike: The bike course will head south down the Silver Strand to a turnaround in the parking area, 5.5 miles south of the start. Racers are encouraged to take the bike path on the way out, and the bike lane in the road on the way back north. Two stops will be required of all racers, please see the new rule above. All traffic signs and signals must be obeyed on this open course!
Run: The run course will start in the park and wrap around the yacht club and the golf course to the entrance of the golf course before heading back to the finish line, approximate distance is 3 miles.

Registration: To register for this race, please visit the members area on the web site 2 weeks before the event. Registration will only be available at that time and will stay open until it fills up or the race occurs. There is a limit of 200 racers for this event. If that number is reached, you may choose to try a walk-up registration on the morning of the race. If you sign up but then find you cannot race, please remove yourself in the member's area, or contact one of the race directors so we can take your name off of the registration list.
This race is chip timed. We strongly encourage racers to purchase a chip for this and all future club races on the website here.
We need volunteers to help make this race run smoothly. Please email Karam if you would like to help and get some Grand Prix points for doing so.
