Sunday Beginner Bike/Run
January 26 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am PST
An event every week that begins at 10:00am on Sunday, repeating indefinitely
Now that the sun is setting earlier and earlier, we’re moving our weekly beginner bike and run workouts to Sunday!
WHO: Anyone interested in a TRUE no drop ride. No, you do not need to be a member of the tri club. Maybe you’ll want to join after you meet these awesome folks though!
WHEN: Sunday bike is wheels down at 10am. Safety spiel at 9:45.
WHAT: This beginner and intermediate friendly workout will consist of a 20-25 mile ride, which will be a NO DROP, NO EGO ride.
**Seriously, if you don’t want to be part of a pack that stays together, solely because you are capable of going faster, this may not be the group for you.
WHERE: There will be two bike routes, intermediate and beginner, each lead by a workout leader and sweeper. You may be asked to help out with sweeping. Both groups meet up at club sponsor Moment Bicycles in The Village at Pacific Highlands Ranch off Carmel Valley Road. 5965 Village Way E-100, San Diego 92130.
ROUTES: The intermediate group will ride on the road, with routes changing week to week. Intermediate ride leader, April Guerieri, will try to post the route ahead of time for that week. The beginner group will be continued to be nurtured on the bike path which is closed to cars. Please note, there is approx 1/2 mile of road riding from Moment to get on/off the bike path.
THE SAFETY: If you haven’t ridden with April on the Wednesday night workouts, please call her before arrival. I want to give you my best to ensure you are safe on or off the roads and have a fun, no drop and no ego experience. All who haven’t come out on the Sunday ride should ALSO be ready to listen to a 9:45 safety spiel.
THE RUN: The Beginner Run will also be continued this off-season, co-led by Michael Martino and April Guerieri. The route may change, but in general starts on on Pacific Highlands Parkway going west along picturesque sidewalks to a wide, well groomed packed pebble path. The goal is to find a buddy within the group to stay with for approx 1.5-3.5 miles. Are you slow? Come on out and see how awesome we are no matter what pace you are!
RUN TIME: If you would just like to join the run, please meet at Moment Bicycles at 12:00pm. This is a loose time for the first few weeks while we work out the kinks on timing. We won’t leave before noon!
THE SOCIAL: All the best things are celebrated! Come hang out afterwards for camaraderie. Lots of nearby places.. Starbucks, Luna Grill, Breakfast Republic, etc.
THE NUMBER TO CALL: This is the number to call April before arrival if you haven’t ridden a Wed or Sun group ride before. This ride is open to ALL beginner and intermediates. In order to stay safe on the road, be placed in the correct group and to ensure this stays a no drop, no ego ride please call 410.322.2276.
