Swim Event

BOWS! (Beginners Open Water Swim)

BOWS is the flagship of open water swimming events in Southern California. For anyone looking to make the transition from pool to open water or to become more efficient in the water, this is your event! All you need is the ability to swim about 100m without stopping, a brightly coloured swim cap (don't worry...we have plenty to share around!), and the desire to explore the joys of the big, salty pool. We meet at the western lifeguard tower of Bonita Cove. Folks tend to arrive around 5:30pm, and we are 'toes in the water' promptly at 6:00pm. PLEASE NOTE: The TCSD Aquathlons are also held once a month on Thursday evenings. When there is an aquathlon, BOWS takes a field trip to join the club at the race. BOWS swimmers are welcome to race, if they are prepared, but we also offer the 'party wave.' This group waits about 30 seconds after the club has started, then we follow the swim course around, offering the opportunity to enjoy an ocean swim with support. No one gets dropped on these events.

Bonita Cove (900 W Mission Bay Blvd). We meet at the lifeguard tower on the northwestern edge of the cove, south of the Bahia Hotel, and the closest part of the cove to the roller coaster.
