Otay Kakes/Honey Springs Rd NO DROP ride
Seems like there’s enough interest so time to pull the trigger. Time for a NO DROP ride through the picturesque area of Otay Lakes. Arrival time is 7:30am. We roll out at 8:00am. Start location is Mountain Hawk Park which is a city park and the gates do not open until 7:30am. There are bathrooms and water fountains at this park. We will warm up with a light rolling start to the Olympic Training Center and take a group selfie. One done, there’s a go at your own pace sprint on Wueste Rd. Then we head east on Otay Lakes Rd with beautiful vistas of Otay Lakes on our right. From Otay Lakes Rd we turn left onto Campo Rd then right onto the 6 mile climb up Honey Springs Rd ending at Barber Mountain Rd. From this point we reverse the route back to Mountain Hawk Park. There will be regrouping stops announced the morning of the ride. One will be the country store Pio Pico which is about 8 miles from the start. You can purchase fluid and food here if needed but you should always have nutrition/hydration for the entire ride. Total mileage will be 40. For those with GARMIN’s I can send you the route so you can download it your cycling computer or multi-sport watch. See you bright and early Saturday morning ??
