Donate Your Finisher Medals:

TCSD member Craig Zelent is the San Diego Chapter Coordinator for Medals4Mettle, a non-profit organization that facilitates the gifting of marathon, half marathon and triathlon finishers' medals.  Our network of volunteers then awards these medals attached to a Medals4Mettle (M4M) ribbon to children and adults fighting debilitating illnesses who might not be able to run a race, but are in a race of their own just to continue to live their life.  It is in honor of this mettle and courage in bravely facing these challenges that they are awarded a medal.

How can you help?  Please donate your finisher medals that meet this criteria:  

The medals we want are any half marathon or longer for running events and any distance triathlon.  The medals should be in good condition.  Most medals from the past 15 years are nice and blingy.  That's what we want.  Most of these medals will go to kids.  Kids will want the newer, more blingy kinds of medals.  I won't bother putting the M4M ribbon on old, tiny, sorry looking medals.  Kids won't chose those medals.  Also, please don't give me any relay medals like Ragnar medals.  Nor will I use any Spartan or Challenger virtual race medals.  It would help me save a step if you could cut off your ribbons.  I hope that makes sense.

If you have Disney medals - please leave those ribbons on.  I will accept Disney medals from any race distance.   

Please send them to Craig's home:  6419 Terraza Portico, Carlsbad, CA 92009.  If you ship them, then I'd suggest you use a USPS flat rate box as that option is relatively inexpensive (the medium size is about $25 to ship).  Or feel free to drop them off.  The gate code is ##3140.  If you drop them off, then it would be good if you could email or text me, so I know to look for them.  Or have a neighbor grab them.
